I'm busy, busy, busy at the moment, so this must of necessity be a very short blog entry, posted simply to keep my hand in as it were.

The statistically minded may be interested to know that over the past twenty two issues of Black Static we have published a grand total of 125 stories by 79 different writers, and 32½ of those stories were by women.

If you include the Campaign for Real Fear stories from issues 17 and 18, you can add in another 20 stories by 20 other writers, 13 of them female.

Over at my personal blog, Trumpetville, I'm continuing with my mission to discuss each and every story that has appeared in the magazine, except for my own. So far I've written about 32 of them, with Sarah Singleton's 'Death By Water' from #15 the latest to appear. I've linked to that story below, and to the full index of stories discussed so far.

(In parenthesis, I note from the bibliography on Sarah Singleton's website, that although she's had plenty of short stories appear, many of them in notable and prestigious publications, we're still short a collection of her work.)

One other thing, over on the website of Australian writer Angela Slatter, you can find a brief interview with myself. Angela was our Case Notes featured author in #21, and among the books I reviewed in that issue was her collection The Girl With No Hands, which has just won the Aurealis Award. I'm so glad I said good things about it, as there's less egg to wipe off that way.

Warning to the easily disturbed - the interview is accompanied by a photograph.
