Gothic Cinema in Bath

8th Oct, 2009

Author: Peter Tennant

Continuing with our happy tradition of reporting today what other websites told you about weeks ago, I'd like to inform the cinema buffs in our midst that if they'd been in Bath last Friday night they could have attended a free screening of James Whale's Frankenstein in the atmospheric environs of Walcot Mortuary Chapel.

Bummer. But fret not, as that was just the start of From Out of the Shadows, a celebration of Gothic Cinema in the city that stretches right through to the middle of December.

The screenings may no longer be free, but what's on offer is certainly worth the price of a ticket. Forthcoming delights at the Little Theatre Cinema include The Company of Wolves, The Devil's Backbone and The Innocents, while on hand to introduce each feature will be such luminaries as David Pirie, Sir Christopher Frayling and others.

This coming Friday they'll be screening Dracula AD1972 and that one is going to be introduced by Anno Dracula author Kim Newman.
