Hope dawns for those who despaired at the closure of Elastic Press, with its emphasis on the short form.
Nightjar Press is a new independent publisher that - for the moment - will focus on single story chapbooks by individual authors in limited editions.
Nightjar is the brain child of Black Static contributor Nicholas Royle who, back in the 90s heyday of the UK small press, was the man behind Egerton Press, publishers of Darklands, Darklands 2 and Joel Lane's first short story collection The Earth Wire. Nicholas will concentrate on the publishing side of the business while John Oakey deals with design.
Nightjar's first two titles are What Happens When You Wake Up In the Night by Michael Marshall Smith and The Safe Children by Tom Fletcher. I hope to review both titles in the December Black Static.
