Billed as his biggest work since The Stand, Stephen King's latest novel is released in the UK on the 10th of November. Under the Dome weighs in at 336,114 words, and is the story of the Maine town of Chester's Mill, which is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible and impenetrable dome.
King's UK publishers have set up a dedicated website for the book, and are holding two competitions.
In one competition, the manuscript of Under the Dome has been divided into 5,196 pieces, which fans are being asked to either hide or seek. The eventual winner in each category will get an exclusive, limited edition proof of Under the Dome and spend a night in a luxury hotel reading the book before it is published. Closing date is the 6th of November.
There's another competition aimed specifically at writers, or those who wish to be writers. The challenge is to write a 2,000 words or less story based on the theme of Under the Dome, with a closing date of the 15th of December. Stephen King and his UK editor will judge the winner, who will receive a limited edition proof of Under the Dome.
