The winners of the 2009 Shirley Jackson Awards were announced last Sunday. Click on the link below for the full results.
Congratulations to all the winners and commiserations to all the losers, especially Black Static contributors Stephen Volk and Joel Lane, who were in contention in the novella category but didn't quite grasp the laurel.
We already have an interview with Stephen Volk on the site, but as there's no such thing as too much of a good thing, I've posted a link to another one in which he discusses the nominated novella Vardoger, and if you root around a bit over there you can probably find links to interviews with many of the other nominees, though not Joel Lane (at least I couldn't).
Meanwhile, over at salon.com, Laura Miller has written an appreciation of Shirley Jackson that provides some insight into why she's considered significant enough to name awards after. Click on the third link to check it out.
