I used to see a lot of thunder and 'lightening' in the Whisper's slush, and the 'baiting' of breath was always a favourite...

Yeah, back when I was part of the IZ editorial team I wanted to give automatic rejection to anyone who confused 'lightning/lightening', but Andy and Jetse wouldn't let me.
Another common one is 'reign' for 'rein', as in phrases such as 'he reined in', or 'gave free rein to'.
And I've recently read three books in which the artist Jackson Pollock is referenced, and each time it's been spelt 'Pollack'.
Today, at one of a national cinema chain, I read a notice telling customers to 'ask a member of staff for detatails'.

That one does have a certain resonance for me, as my very first published horror story got typed up incorrectly by the editor (none of this copy and paste malarkey in those days - you kids don't know how lucky you are), so that the punchline was a poor man who was 'stabbed in the crouch'.

In a note for the new FantasyCon website, I wrote about this year's event:

There's an American horror writer called Les Daniels, so that one might not have registered as a typo at all, though you might have a lot of people wondering how they missed seeing him 
Over Christmas I've been slumming, and so while flicking through one of my sister's gossip mags came across a photo of the former Spice Girl which was tagged as 'Victorian Beckham' (she's not amused).
And on the same competition website that brought us 'national brianwashing', there was this question - 'What’s the name of Meryl’s Streep in the It’s Complicated?'

Just received a publisher's PR handout for a new book, which says that it contains tales about 'survival in a wasted wasteland'...
Not exactly a typo, but amusing all the same.
