Good review in from Peter Mark May.
"If you haven’t read any Allyson Bird yet, catch her now, before she gets too big and boast to your friends that you were there at the start. Because Ally deserves a wider audience, in fact a fucking huge fat publishing contract on both sides of the Atlantic if you ask me.
She writes like no one else, clever and intriguing, and does not just waft words around to look big and clever, every sentence has purpose and drive.
Atalanta is my personal favourite in this collection, only because I’m a sucker for Jason and the Argonauts and Greek myths.
Ally writes not fantasy nor horror, she write good, so check her out."

I've just had a tale in the superhero genre published in the new issue of 'A Thousand Faces'. The editor calls it 'a tragedy of the highest degree'. Make of that what you will! You can even read it online, especaially if your own superpower is 'invulnerability to bad writing'.

As well as a forthcoming appearance in the aforementioned Dark Minds anthology edited by Ross Warren, I'm pleased to say I'm also due to appear in the 8th Black Book of Horror (Mortbury Press), Alt Dead edited by Peter Mark May (alternative tales of the dead), and an anthology of weird/Gothic bird stories edited by Nicholas Royle (Two Ravens Press). All likely to be released in 2011.

Wine and Rank Poison is out as a paperback today
http://www.darkregions.com/products/Win ... -Bird.html
And a new review, by Joel Lane.
" Wine and Rank Poison shows Allyson Bird continuing to develop as a writer of dark fantasy and supernatural horror. The stories shift between realism, mythology, noir, the erotic and the weird. They are rooted in human feeling – passion, grief, jealousy and fear – but reach back to mythic archetypes and folk beliefs in order to clothe the violent emotions in strange flesh. In ‘The Legacy’, the ingrained violence of a culture triggers a brief and bleak apocalypse. In ‘For You, Faustine’, the mutual desire of mermaids and humans takes a deadly twist. Bird’s writing is idiosyncratic, offbeat and troubling, a personal take on the complex legacy of pulp fiction."

My new novel, Burying Brian, has now been published by Immanion Press. Needless to say, I'm rather chuffed!

My 2010 in Writing and Publishing
My novella – WEIRDTONGUE: A Glistenberry Romance - was published by InkerMen Press.
My novel – NEMONYMOUS NIGHT - was accepted by Chomu Press.
I published the final Nemonymous: NULL IMMORTALIS.
I carried out a significant number of Real-Time Reviews about many authors’ writings in the Weird Literature field.
I issued the Submission Guidelines for THE HORROR ANTHOLOGY OF HORROR ANTHOLOGIES.
I attended the fruitful Local Writers’ Group each month and wrote much new fiction as a result..
I republished my novella AGRA ASKA after it was first independently published in 1998 and long out of print.
I withdrew from a publisher my ultimate and definitive Book Collection – The Last Balcony - for what I hope were altruistic reasons on my part.
The WEIRDMONGER: The Nemonicon: The Synchronised Shards of Random Truth and Fiction (2003) Book Collection went out of print.
I started dismantling the WEIRDMONGER WHEEL.
I salvaged all the amazing Quotes I had gleaned over many years from each novel chapter and each story by Elizabeth Bowen and re-posted them on this blog (password: trouteva).
I had a few contretemps on internet forums. Some my fault, others not.
Happy New Year to all my friends.

Actually, that's a great idea Des, to do a 2010 round-up.
Here's my year:
I had the following SHORT STORIES published:
Red or White (The Bitten Word, NewCon Press)
The Onion Code (Where The Heart Is, Grey Friar Press)
Love Is The Drug (Null Immortalis, Megaznathus Press)
Blue Sky World (Music From Another World, Mutation Press)
Beyond Each Blue Horizon (Never Again, Grey Friar Press)
The Creukus Effect (Morpheus Tales #10)
Cling (The View From Here #27)
PhotoTherapy (Murky Depths #14)
Up (Catastrophia, PS Publishing)
Pansy Blade Cassandra Moko (Zahir Anthology 2010)
Apparently, I also had Deadtime published in Crimespree but I've yet to receive a copy of the magazine.
In addition, my short novel, "Ponthe Oldenguine", was published by Atomic Fez. I have promoted this at various events wearing a rubber penguin mask.
I wrote eight short stories (and have sold four of them).
I wrote a novel: "The Immortalists". Just about to edit it.
I proofread and typeset for various publishers.
I sold a new short story collection, "Shipping Tomorrow Backwards", to Dog Horn Publishing for 2011 publication.
I edited two editions of "New Horizons" for the British Fantasy Society.
I submitted a proposal to - and am currently undergoing training for - my own local radio show with Future Radio.
Seasons Greetings and Best Wishes for 2011 to all Interaction readers!
