Hi all
Just a quick heads up about the various publishing projects we have on the go at the moment.
Firstly, our second poetry publication from Salò Press, “Father, Husband” by Scherezade Siobhan, is back from the printers today. We’ve had a pre-order running for a couple of weeks and it’s proving popular. Here’s the blurb: “This book is a woman spelled as saudade. These poems are a field full of sleeping deer, a conspiracy of sparrows bent over the wet clay of water bowl, a calligraphy of vine across the bone-white limbs of a forgotten window in a father’s locked house. First, she calls him Father. Then, she calls him Husband. This is the echo of an invisible inheritance; a past that is written in future continuous tense.”
The poet, George Szirtes, says the book is: “A passionate synaesthesic raid on the fleshpots of language where nothing is itself only more so, where body, intelligence and emotion are constantly melting into each other and all is a precise but constant glittering.”
Cover art is by the wonderful Muxxi. Take a
look, order now, and get your copy before Christmas!
Secondly, the seventh issue of Fur-Lined Ghettos magazine has just been published. As usual it’s an eclectic blend of experimental literature. Contributors include Andrew Darlington, Zooey Ghostly, Zachary Scott Hamilton, Alex Russell, Ross Scott-Buccleuch, Ella Snyder, David Spicer, Dawn Wilson, and David Zeltzer, plus an interview with Paul Smith of Maximo Park. Stunningly weird cover art by Marco Puccini. Buy a copy of that
here. Whilst you’re there, please consider picking up a back issue at the same time – we’re down to single figures with those and won’t be reprinting.
Thirdly, my partner and Salò Press co-conspirator, Sophie Essex, has had her first pamphlet of poems published by Pyramid Editions. Titled “Objects of Desire” these three poems explore sex, sexuality and objectification. Only £2.75 including postage:
http://pyramideditions.co.uk/. Sophie’s getting a lot of exposure and critical acclaim for her work at the moment, these could well become collectors items. The pamphlet is limited to 50 numbered copies so will sell quickly.
Finally, as usual we’re reading for the next issue of
Fur-Lined Ghettos, and also our surrealist anthology
A Galaxy of Starfish is currently half full. Click on those links for submission guidelines and for more details on being published by us.
