I'm throwing myself back into publishing :)

After six years running Elastic Press (2002-2006) picking up multiple awards along the way, and then co-editing Fur-Lined Ghettos magazine with my partner we've decided to expand on the concepts within the magazine and concentrate our efforts on a new independent publishing house dedicated to publishing surrealism and weird poetry.

Our first anthology - now open to submissions from writers/poets/artists/photographers - will be "A Galaxy of Starfish: An Anthology of Mordern Surrealism". Please check out the guidelines here: ... alism.html

We are also seeking poetry collections from established and new poets including alt-poetry | surrealism | automatism | cut-up | existentialism | experimentation | subtle beauty. Guidelines for these collections are here:

Hopefully you'll be excited about this as we are. Please feel free to share the news.

It's taken a little while, but the first release from Salò Press has now been published and we're taking orders for immediate dispatch.

Our first title is a poetry collection by Dalton Day titled "Actual Cloud".

“Reading Actual Cloud is like tracking a mysterious animal through a wood of fog and feeling. Its body keeps changing, gaining fur, finding sorrow, leaving antlers, then paw prints, then hoof prints behind. The path the language takes is simple, declarative, but also full of gaps and quick swerves. It's clear this poet finds pleasure in leading the way, and it's a joy to wander in pursuit.” - Heather Christle, author of Heliopause and What is Amazing

The official publication date is October 1st. However, orders placed directly via the links below will be shipped same day - meaning you get your little animal paws on a copy over a month in advance!

If you do purchase a copy please consider sharing on social media and/or writing a review. This not only supports the writer but also a tiny independent press that wants to continue publishing beautiful voltaic voices.

And whilst I appreciate the content isn't SF/F/H I hope my connection with Salò Press and the knowledge of the work I did with Elastic Press will encourage all readers of quirky fiction to consider picking up a copy. It really does deserve a wide audience.

And don't forget, we're still reading for "A Galaxy Of Starfish: An Anthology Of Modern Surrealism". Submit to us!

Hi all

Just a quick heads up about the various publishing projects we have on the go at the moment.

Firstly, our second poetry publication from Salò Press, “Father, Husband” by Scherezade Siobhan, is back from the printers today. We’ve had a pre-order running for a couple of weeks and it’s proving popular. Here’s the blurb: “This book is a woman spelled as saudade. These poems are a field full of sleeping deer, a conspiracy of sparrows bent over the wet clay of water bowl, a calligraphy of vine across the bone-white limbs of a forgotten window in a father’s locked house. First, she calls him Father. Then, she calls him Husband. This is the echo of an invisible inheritance; a past that is written in future continuous tense.”

The poet, George Szirtes, says the book is: “A passionate synaesthesic raid on the fleshpots of language where nothing is itself only more so, where body, intelligence and emotion are constantly melting into each other and all is a precise but constant glittering.”

Cover art is by the wonderful Muxxi. Take a look, order now, and get your copy before Christmas!

Secondly, the seventh issue of Fur-Lined Ghettos magazine has just been published. As usual it’s an eclectic blend of experimental literature. Contributors include Andrew Darlington, Zooey Ghostly, Zachary Scott Hamilton, Alex Russell, Ross Scott-Buccleuch, Ella Snyder, David Spicer, Dawn Wilson, and David Zeltzer, plus an interview with Paul Smith of Maximo Park. Stunningly weird cover art by Marco Puccini. Buy a copy of that here. Whilst you’re there, please consider picking up a back issue at the same time – we’re down to single figures with those and won’t be reprinting.

Thirdly, my partner and Salò Press co-conspirator, Sophie Essex, has had her first pamphlet of poems published by Pyramid Editions. Titled “Objects of Desire” these three poems explore sex, sexuality and objectification. Only £2.75 including postage: Sophie’s getting a lot of exposure and critical acclaim for her work at the moment, these could well become collectors items. The pamphlet is limited to 50 numbered copies so will sell quickly.

Finally, as usual we’re reading for the next issue of Fur-Lined Ghettos, and also our surrealist anthology A Galaxy of Starfish is currently half full. Click on those links for submission guidelines and for more details on being published by us.
