Just out of interest des (and I apologise if I'm breaking etiquette--my only excuse is ignorance), how are subs for Cone Zero doing? Lots? Any that have leaped out at you already? Anything about the dynamics of light in a finite spatial box?

Hi, Foxie
I'm getting just as many subs as in previous years when anyone could send in any story - a fact which pleasantly surprises me as I am now effectively asking for stories specifically written for CONE ZERO.
Yes, a few have leapt out and a few may yet leap...

No, that's why it's almost too late.
Hope you can submit.

First draft thrown to the wolves last night. Now trying to ignore the sounds of ripping and shredding.
What day is it?

I will be submitting something later today, after a bit of editing. There's nothing like being ahead of the game (nothing like it around here, anyway!).

Mike A, thanks, received yours - just in time!
I've been graced with hundreds and hundreds of stories either called CONE ZERO or about CONE ZERO.
The world for me has truly and literally become CONE ZERO.

I am pleased to report that I’ve seen a copy of a review of ZENCORE! (including a thumbnail of its cover) in TIME OUT magazine. In this, the reviewer seems to have enjoyed reading it and correctly guesses the authors of ‘Undergrowth’ and ‘England & Nowhere’!
Re Cone Zero submissions, every submitter should by now have received a rejection or notification of being among the authors of 50 short-listed stories.

Well, as a chance near-anagram of ZENCORE (which was in turn a chance title for Nemonymous Seven), the book that will be CONE ZERO (Nemonymoous Eight) is taking shape. This is going to be a mighty difficult task. As it is, the CONE ZERO stories already rejected so as to leave the short list were (are) mostly impressive gems of the CONE ZERO ethos or genre. Meanwhile, the 47-strong short list (on subsequent readings) are indeed found to be all masterpieces of the CONE ZERO ethos or genre. I have enough for several books? What to do!!

Why not release the ones that don't make the cut on a website as a promotional lead-up to publication, if the authors are willing? A story a week until the book is released, perhaps? Good way to build up a bit of buzz.
