I received today, out of the blue, an anonymous Small Press Magazine (old-fashioned format with staples, smartly printed and laid-out) entitled INTERSTICE.
Guest editor: Franz Kafka!
Does anyone know anything about this? A real mystery!! Whoever sent it obviously knew my home address.
It contains, among other things, "Residential astrologer Mase Ecasi explores the interstitial significance of two days from history linked by their position on the Aztec calendar", something about a Dental Wynch, a story (?) entiltled 'The Life And Times Of Granny Sump', an article about Frisland, a picture of a lateral rocking-chair, tips on how to reduce your vocabulary to just 100 words, and a 'spot the dog' competition. And much more.

There is also an advert for 'Ratsticker' in this mag, for killing rats. The print is too small to read but it doesn't seem terribly humane.

A new user under the name something mortgage? Is that a spammer? Sorry if it's a genuine pseudonym but it is suspicious.

Is that a clue to the Mystery? Or an interstitial posting, Roy?

At risk of increasing the thread's vocabulary beyond 100 words surely it meets both criteria?

I'd just like to reassure you that no rats were harmed in the making of this magazine.

Des, sounds like you might've accidentally slipped into a Borges story! Have you spotted any glass tigers wandering around Clacton lately?

Indeed, Mike.
Also amased that Mase Escasi has turned up here.
I wonder if he or she will solve any mystery posed by my first post all those months ago.
I also originally posted the mystery on the Interstitial Boards here: http://p081.ezboard.com/finterstitialartsfrm2

Nemonymity creates mystery, eh, Des? I sent you a copy (and recently a second) because I had previously purchased 'Nemonymous' and found it most interesting.
The pretentious explanation is this: a gap exists within each article designed to direct the reader toward what is connoted rather than what is denoted.
Non-pretentious? The mag is a kind of toilet paper: I find that sudden epiphanies sometimes occur in such situations. Also, it's just about porous enough to have a practical use in emergencies.
A kind of wilful obscurity, in other words.
Thank you for directing me to the 'Interstitial Arts' pages. I'll have a proper look and post another reply.

Hi, Mase
I'm afraid I never received a second Interstice Magazine but thanks for the thought.
I still can't think who you are; but the mag is certainly a wonderful thing. It would be a shame to spoil its mystery.

Hey, just received INTERSTICE 2 in the post!
What a delight! What a mystery! Thanks.
The guest editor this time is Arthur Conan Doyle.
Includes the second part of 'The Life & Times of Granny Sump', Baby Bush's mission to Mars, Mediatrix & Narcissus (Media eats her children), an astonishing picture of the Divine Horseman, the second in the series based on the Aztec sacred calendar and much else.
But being versed in Esoteric Astrology, I went straight to the Horoscopes page as I do in all magazines. My Capricorn Sun Sign has: 'On the flowery carpet there are perfect flowers - you will be weeded!' Strangely, this reflects the plot of my novel 'The Hawler'....
Thanks again.

Hi Des,
Glad you got the second issue (retrograde Mercury and all that, you know) as I was just thinking of posting another to you and a couple of other people yet to be bemused by its arrival.
I lost a novel under similar auspices recently - I hope you've backed up 'The Hawler'!
All the best.

Yup
Also liked in Interstice2 the " When onto the carpet came radiant Condwiramurs" film still from 'The Holy Grail' (with Humphrey Bogart, directed by John Huston).
