I have been invited to The Royal Television Society North West’s inaugural Anthony H Wilson Memorial Lecture presented by Russell T Davies on Friday 20th June: with arrival drinks 1800 and the lecture 1830!

Jonathan Cape's graphic short story competition
Quote: Publisher Jonathan Cape is once more teaming up with the Observer and the COMICA festival at the ICA for the 2008 Graphic Short Story Prize. The prize aims to celebrate and promote the art of the graphic novel and offer a platform for the graphic novelists of the future. Jonathan Cape, one of the UK's leading publishers of graphic novels, will award £1000 to the winning entry and £250 to the runner-up. The winning graphic short story will be printed over two pages in the Observer on Sunday 9 November and displayed at The ICA on the weekend of 15/16 November. It will also be published on www.guardianonline.co.uk, www.capegraphicnovels.co.uk and displayed at Comica festival at The ICA. For more details, visit the website.

Well, well Manchester will put on a literary festival this autumn and Stephen Baxter features, on Sunday 26 Oct, plus there is also a session on Graphic Fiction (Comics not particularly pornography) "arranged by the Lass O’Gowrie in conjunction with Engine Comics and the team behind Redeye,"

Does this mean SF is literature? Probably only 'up North'.
