Books that the American people (or a small but vociferous proportion of them) want removed from their public libraries:- ... ed-authors

"Catcher in the Rye" made a comeback, so I guess dying is a good career move, in this sense anyway.

Pete, here's another "solution" to the problem my Old Country has with reading. A woman I know lives in Arizona (of recent infamy), in a place near Phoenix called Sun City. It's nice neat, clean, and above all gated. People under a certain young age and other undesirables are not let in. Since the town is owned by one firm, it's effectively privatised. It pays almost no taxes to its county. Indeed, its library is under strict control of the owners. One wonders what they allow their residents to read? I would love to ask but am afraid.
I hope this reminds readers of that scary book, Oath of Fealty, by Niven and Pournelle. That work describes a monstrous, nearly self-sufficient, apartment building near Los Angeles. Since like Sun City it is private and has a minimal (LA) tax bill , it's possible that a lot of cash is left over for books and magazines. What would N & P like to see in, and ban from, its library, assuming they have thought about this matter?
