I'm delighted to announce the official launch of the publishing company that intends to issue my novel Twisthorn Bellow in September...

Atomic Fez was set up by the Canadian fellow Ian Alexander Martin, former boss of Humdrumming Ltd, publishers of my Less Lonely Planet collection (aptly enough, Atomic Fez also plan to being out a second edition of that volume, an expanded version, sometime next year).

Twisthorn Bellow is a sort of rival to Hellboy, but he's much more incompetent than that good red demon. Twisthorn is a golem who falls into a vat of nitroglycerin before he has set, turning him into a living stick of dynamite! His adventures among the supernatural creatures of the world often drive his potter potty! The novel is a black comedy satire in which I tried to be as inventive as possible... Apart from Hellboy my main inspiration came from the work of Philip José Farmer.

The blurb on the back cover reads:

Twisthorn Bellow:
He’s dynamite — and he has a short fuse!

"It may come as no surprise that France wants to take over the world again. But this time they plan to go much further and gain control of the spiritual dimensions too, making French the official language of the afterlife! Twisthorn Bellow is a freshly baked golem who has fallen into a vat of nitroglycerin, turning him into a living stick of dynamite. As well as battling against monsters and rock musicians, he’s the only thing that can preserve and protect the glorious British Empire and prevent the Frenchification of the entire cosmos. But considering the French have all the best ideas and tunes, he doesn’t stand a soufflé in Hell’s chance!"

How to Kill Fiends & Intimidate People:

* Set yourself a golem;
* Give that golem a piece of your mind;
* Unleash him on an unsuspecting world…

I've just finished proofreading Twisthorn Bellow, so all is set for publication early next year. In the meantime the electronic version is available NOW. More details can be found on my blog here:

Here's a monster taken from the novel. It may look like a magnifying mirror wrapped in a purple scarf, with two gloves supported by a concealed paintbrush for hands, and a brass sun held at the right distance to make a bizarre reflected face; but all that's just an unlikely coincidence. Honest.
