Way too literary and high-brow. Where's the mention of people like Stephen King, Joe Hill, MMS, George RR Martin, Ray Bradbury, Harlan Ellison, Richard Matherson?

It is very literary, but there are some great stories there. But also some odd choices - I don't think 'Funes the Memorius' is Borges' best story (what about 'The Garden of Forking Paths' or 'Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertias'?), nor that 'The Indian Uprising' is Donald Barthelme's best. Would concur with 'Spring at Fialta' though - definitely one of Nabokov's best.

Omissions - well, Ray Bradbury should definitely be in there. But there's very little of any sort of genre. Even Conan Doyle and Wodehouse don't make the list. And it's very short on humour - where's Saki?

For a 'highbrow' list I'd expect to see E.M. Forster's "The Machine Stops" (unless it's considered too long to qualify).
