Thinking at the moment, all depends on whether it's still showing from Thursday onwards in Norwich as I can't see it before then...I'm not a great Tarantino fan, but am sure it's worth a look.

I don't think I'll be seeing it...
I've always thought Tarantino was grossly overrated. Pulp Fiction was brilliant, but everything since has been mediocre, in my opinion.

The new film sounds terrible. I think Tarantino made a few good movies - Pulp Fiction, the rather underrated Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs (my personal favourite). All the others I've seen have been pretty lame, with From Dusk till Dawn being the worst (granted he didn't direct it, but was to blame for the script!).

I'll see it this weekend, pretty much because it's there. The last Tarantino film I really liked was Kill Bill Vol 1 (Vol 2 had its moments but it was far too long). I didn't like Death Proof at all.

My problem with Kill Bill was that while it had some impressive fight scenes, that was pretty much all it was. A series of fight scenes strung together by fairly weak excuses for said fights, and awful plot/narative.

"Kill Bill" was too long, and pretty much style over substance, but having said that, I did like the style a lot. I'm shallow. What can you do?

I agree, I could quite happily watch along to Kill Bill (some stunning visuals, and I loved the animated sequence), but it all seemed a bit superficial and pointless by the end.
I think, given the setting of the new movie, the alleged focus on intertextuality (or whatever the cinema equivalent's called) at the expense of any significant angle on the history is going to make it seem rather crass. Of course it's possible the review I read was misleading, but given Tarantino's previous work, it did seem to ring true.

Glorious return to form and QT's best since "Pulp Fiction" according to the Film4 reviewer:-

Contrarily, I find nothing there that really makes me want to see it.
Andrew, it's on in Norwich for a second week at the Vue.

I went to see this last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't seen a Tarantino since Pulp Fiction, but this really hit all the buttons on lots of levels and some of the performances were nothing short of brilliant. It takes it's time but doesn't outstay its welcome. Recommended.
