Contrarily I'm more enthused by Del Toro's involvement than Jackson's, though he did an excellent job with "LotR".
Interesting that it's going to be two films. Even though each book in the trilogy was much longer than "The Hobbit" Jackson still managed to keep them at one per film (very long films, admittedly).

Fantasy's loss is a pretty big loss IMO.

And now there's a trailer for the first part:-

I may once, or twice even, have mocked Orlando Bloom's elf ears, but I have to admit they do look rather cute on Cate Blanchett.

I'm looking forward to the soundtrack, too.
Or soundtracks, plural - isn't this movie broken into two?

Well if he can make two films I guess we can say so twice.
But you're missing the point Ray (and Ali).
Willya just look at the ears on that elf?

A ten minute screening was done this week.
And the audience hated it.
The type of 3D filming use--apparently a very fast speed??--ended up making everything look so authentic it looked wrong ( fake?)
Many said it had the look of a TV show, not a film.
Whoops.
Luckily, most cinemas are not fitted out to show the film in the speed it was shot, so it should look better at most cinemas.
