Well I'm thoroughly discouraged. Franchises pushed into fourth films? Captain America? And why can't Twilight go away and die already?

I'm still just a bit disturbed that they felt a remake of True Grit was necessary. I hope it's god. It's a good book and the John Wayne film was great (and just rewatched it on tv yesterday).

Not a franchise, but Rodriguez's Spy Kids series returns for a 4th outing, which might be fun.

I hope Branagh's Thor is good...

Perhaps the Green Lantern movie -

- will prompt a JLA super-team production, so that DC has a big franchise to rival Joss Whedon's planned Avengers, for Marvel comics.
Okay, that's promising comicbook stuff, but are there any serious SF movies on the horizon?

I do remember seeing something about a PKD adaptation somewhere, Tony. I'll try and find it.

Ah, here it is: The Adjustment Bureau.

Not sure whether it'll be any good or not, and haven't read the source material, but it's something, right?
And I'm sure I saw something a while back about a TV mini-series of The Man in the High Castle, but I don't know when we'll be seeing that.

How did I forget that (apart from being waylayed by the OP article and my own cynicism, that is)?
PKD adaptations tend to be slightly hit-and-miss, but it's PKD, so at the very minimum, remaining faithful to the story's concept should make it at least watchable.

Yes, and it could be fun, but (look up novice director's Nolfi's writing credits) I despair of Hollywood turning PKD works into action thrillers (like Paycheck and Next), where the chase tends to overshadow any SF element.

Details seem hazy at the moment, but it is slated to be a 4-part BBC mini-series, adapted by Howard Brenton and produced by Riddley Scott.
Here is the
the guardian's story from October 2010.
The Brenton/Scott combination is promising to say the least...
