It does look nice, but Orlando Bloom...

I think there's a fan on this forum somewhere, can't think who. But at least he's a villain this time.

I believe there are a couple actually, both of the female persuasion, though I can only recall one of them expressing a preference for him wearing elf ears.

As he's a bad guy, perhaps Milla will kick his ass

Would it be wrong to think him lucky?

If you're referring to the 'Milla kicking his ass' bit, then probably not, but if you're thinking about the elf ears that's another matter entirely.

Jules Verne's The Three Musketeers!

Looks barmy but I bet I'll love it.

My first thought when I watched the trailer for the new Three Musketeers was "So all it has in common with the book is the title and the character names, then?" My second thought was "It looks like it's going to be so bad it's amazingly good fun."

A friend from my fencing club and I will be going to see it, maybe the whole fencing club and/or some other people we intend to drag off. If you're in the same building, expect to hear lots of "You really wouldn't try that with a sword in hand" type comments. We may be testing the fight choreography out, but not in the cinema.

As for Orlando, if he's not in elf ears, it doesn't count.

This brings back fond memories of the time over on the old Whispers of Wickedness forums, when Djibril reported back on going to see "The 300" with a group of classical historians and scholars :D

Yes. I never made it into the cinema to watch 300, although I've just about learnt to accept that it's based on a comic / graphic novel, so it's not all the director and production team's fault. Actual issues with the film concept will not be mentioned because I'm only an amateur when it comes to ancient Greek history. I just know it wasn't that. And for the journalists who asked about sequels, maybe they at least look things up on Wikipedia occasionally.

Back to the Three Musketeers: why would anyone cast Matthew Macfadyen as Athos?

Fingers crossed for a feature length Dogtanian...

Now that I would love to see. Live action or animated?

Sorry I'm a bit late catching up with this thread.

Of course, I'm still puzzling over the phrase, "But" Orlando Bloom...

Post subject:

Okay, just to clarify for Ali, it's not a typo for 'butt'

If they did an adaptation that was truly faithful to the book, it might seem almost as odd to people as this version, given how much was left out of the previous films - and the English translation of the book (until recently).

For example, every adaptation I've seen has wisely left out the Revenge of the Nerds-style rape scene... Plus I seem to remember a bit where the musketeers execute a woman in cold blood.
