Oh look, a sequel to "Sin City":-

But will our receptivity to Mr Miller's creation be compromised by what we now know of his politics:-

Shit, that's crap... and he used to be an "anarchist" huh! Just the sort of feckless twat he's tarring the Occuppiers as, doing the classic aging into a conservative Establishment old man.... pathetic. What's so hard to understand about the bad influence of corporate money lobbying politicians? Reading the comments following on from the blog you link to, reinforces the desperate mess the USA is in, where so many propagandised heads are so ignorant and also self-righteous....

Spoils the pleasure I was anticipating when I saw they were making a new Sin City. I feel suddenly jaded.

I prefer to keep colour instead of turning these into links (which have such dull colour!) so just copy and paste addresses to visit my art etc.

I guess the cliche about the rebels of yesteryear becoming the Establishment of today applies in the case of Mr Miller.

We mustn't get to thinking that good work is only produced by nice people, but all the same it really sucks to think you're contributing to the wealth of somebody who demonstrably isn't nice at all :(

But it's more than not nice... heck Bob Dylan was never nice (so I was told by someone reading his biography) but that's maybe a side-effect of the kind of creative genius that is in contention with the world in general... why should he suffer the irritations of mundane encroachment, ie stupidity and uninteresting company?

I can forgive "not nice".... it's sheer wilful ignorance and blind "patriotism" of the worst ghetto-mentality on display here! It's thug politics and jingoistic malevolence! It's pandering to a lynch mob and refusing to address the object of the protest, a misrepresentation of the movement, and sheer tabloid style smearing (as if the Occupiers are all rapists because some poor person was raped by someone who no doubt came in from outside with the exact same thought processes as this Miller shithead....)

Well I'm glad I've never bought any of his books, and I for sure never will.

I won't go to see the new film in the cinema either. I'll see it for free some time in the future, when I will ignore its origins and enjoy the work of the director and the animators. I may have trouble with the story, but that's nothing new (see Prometheus, for example... oh wait, I didn't enjoy the movie at all, because I was in fits of disgust at the writers!).....

Well this is funny: I happen to be reading Philip K. Dick Is Dead, Alas by Michael Bishop, which was written (or at any rate published) in the 80s, and the milieu is an alternate 70s/early 80s where Tricky Dick Nixon became an unimpeachable 4-term president after brutally invading N. Vietnam and conquering the world like a Mafia don, effectively...

Anyway, in that oppressive USA (remarkably foreshadowing the real politics of the Republican party in our modern times) Frank Miller is mentioned, and Bishop foretold his true character by suggesting he'd happily sell his skills to the extant powers-that-be to start producing propaganda for the capitalist/fascist State.

Spookily prescient, that Michael Bishop! #-o
