I've never seen the TV series, but I quite like the look of this. On the other hand I've noticed people who have seen the series appear dismissive.

Just reviewed some episodes of the 1960s DS, for IZ #240, but I'm still keen on seeing the 1990s TV revival - which sounds much better.

Saw this today and it was a bit of a mess. Possibly a big section of material ended up on the cutting room floor and left continuity problems behind. Also Depp's character was pretty nasty at times, (though not 'on stage') and not at others, but there seemed no rhyme or reason to it.

I came at the original series sideways, having started reading the paperback spin-off series by Marilyn Ross which are a lot different from the TV series then caught some episodes in America, and then a mate taped a lot of them for me when they were aired on the Sci Fi Channel. I've got a real soft spot for it, but don't deny how clunky, or awful, the original was, but it was a daytime soap and I think aired live. Caught the Ben Cross remake which was just a better version of some of the original story lines. Dan Curtis tried to "Buffy-ise" it with a younger cast in a pilot that was never aired a few years back, and it lives on through Big Finish audio adventures. I was slightly disappointed with the movie - same old Depp/Burton fare, but nice to see Frid and Selby et al turn up as party guests.
