Stunning, tense and emotional. See it on the biggest screen you can in 3D.

Saw it in 3D on the Manchester Imax. Very impressive.
Although renouned for its scientific credentials the director did not allow credibility to spoil a 'good shot'. I'm not giving anything away, spoilerwise, when I mention Sandra Bullock divests herself of a spacesuit after a very long spacewalk (time and distancewise) to reveal her figure in a fetching shorts and singlet combination and it's obvious that she was not 'plumbed in' or wearing the alternative.

I saw this last week, and got really sucked in! I got alarmed and physically affected, feeling the vertigo in my body, while my mind gaped at the furious energy of the frictionless inertia of the desperate moments (pun intended) and depth of the inhuman "venue"!

Hollywood has finally managed to make a film delivering the impact and sound imagination of a Golden Age sf short story of the 50s.

Sandra Bullock sells her character and carries the film, her voice and extended close-ups filling the screen and the time with humanity, and George Clooney is an astronaut!

And the music is a major player, replicating the visual light/dark contrast of the space station in the quick chop from building tense crescendo to sudden drop into silence. Perfect score.

I saw a half hour interview with Alphonse Cuaron (the film maker and co-writer, with his son) and Sandra Bullock on Sky 1 a couple of days after seeing the movie, and it was a joy to see and hear them thinking and talking and sharing their artistic friendship and presence with each other and with us. Cuaron really thought deeply about the audience experience of the film, and his unpacking of symbolism and further thoughts were really sound. He adds an extra dimension to the film which possibly can unconsciously be affecting you whilst watching the movie, because I hadn't done that symbolic thinking about the movie, being totally blown away by the cinematic experience in a visceral way, but the "unpacking" of ideas by Cuaron enriched my appreciation of the movie without in any way changing it…. it was just me recognising what he said as being there in my experience of the movie.

Totally happy and satisfied. The very antithesis of my experience of Prometheus last year. Gravity is a film with deep integrity.

I prefer to keep colour instead of turning these into links (which have such dull colour!) so just copy and paste addresses to visit my art etc.
