Man of Steel is good, not perfect by any means but good. Snyder has toned down his frenetic style and produced an interesting movie. The secret here I feel, which was also a factor in the success of the Batman reboot, is in the casting; great actors embodying the roles in a believable way that grounds the movie in it's own reality. Amy Adams and Russell Crowe are particularly good but the stand out is Henry Cavill, who nails it. Back story is woven well into the narrative and the scenes on Krypton are a particular highlight. There are a few plot foibles that might grate on repeat viewings but I really enjoyed it. Nice to spot a couple of Battlestar Galactica guys amongst the supporting cast and Richard Schiff from the West Wing as well. A good film then with the potential for the sequel to be great now the origin story is out of the way. Definitely make the effort to see it on the big screen.

I'm hearing good stuff about this. Might set some time aside this weekend.

Saw it a couple of weeks ago - bish, bash, bosh! But thought Russell Crowe was great. My elderly father-in-law came along and wished he had left his hearing aid behind. Certainly after watching this I have no intention of watching armoured guys go inside a huge armoured Iron Man lookalike to battle Godzilla lookalikes in "Pacific Rim".

Finally saw it. And while I've never been a real fan of the character, I do like their treatment of the man behind the cape, so to speak. Worth seeing just for that alone.
