I saw Olivier Marchal's
36 Quai des orfevres, which has French stars Gerard Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil as rival cops pursuing a gang of robbers, with a coveted promotion for one of the cops as the prize.
Although it's been compared to Michael Mann's popular
Heat,
36 is less flashy than any Hollywood actioner, yet it works just as well, as slow-burning character study, and a mildly-shocking crime thriller. VideoVista's
reviewer was not very keen, but I quite enjoyed it.
Anyone else got an opinion about this film?
