Not good news. 'I'm so scary because there are no reasons for me, no awful past', to paraphrase Lecter, and then we get Hannibal? Okay, so the guy might have lied, but still.

I agree that the prequel was mostly crap (and boring).
Lecter was far more scary when he just... killed people for being 'rude'.

Agree that "Hannibal Rising" was a huge disappointment, and undermined what was best in the character with its baldy misjudged attempt to 'explain' him.

Interesting that Blanchett is tipped to take over the role of Clarice Starling from Foster. No mention of Julianne Moore, who played the part in "Hannibal".
