Twenty five years on from the last one:-

Perhaps this time they could all be ghosts.
Personally I thought the franchise had already gone a sequel too far, but I do like the idea of all-girl ghostbusters. Put this together with the rumours of a new "Charlie's Angels" and you could have one hell of a cinematic hybrid

Charlie's Busters?
Ghost Angels?
I would be more disappointed by this if I hadn't heard about the Karate Kid remake.
Maybe they can make it the trans-dimensional romp the first one was planned to be, but budget cut down to size.

Charlie is dead. He contacts his angels through a medium (Whoopi Goldberg in a cameo) and asks them to break into the Vatican to steal a splinter of the original cross which they will need to defeat Sigourney Weaver's Queen of the Damned Redux.
Oh, and there'll be zombies.
And at the end everyone dies, even the zombies. The final scene will have Charlie and the angels sitting on a cloud, strumming harps and sipping daquiris, and everyone will be wearing ectoplasmic bikinis, even Charlie.
Why isn't Hollywood on the phone?

Because you've left no room for the sequal. C'mon Pete, this is elementary.

Oh Foxie, you're not thinking outside the box. They're in Heaven now and ghosts themselves, so when people and things from the real world start showing up on the astral plane...
Who ya gonna call???

I think we need less traditional 'ghostbusting' and more crazy stuff like Beetlejuice.

I can't wait for the video game based on the first movie for the Playstation 2. And it's only twenty bucks. The characters are lifelike and everything (check out the video in the link).
The official game was supposedly written by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, too!
