Watch out... review for Intellectual Property gives the ending away! Good job I had already read it.

That SFrevu review does give a major spoiler for 'Intellectual Property', which if you haven't read it was my favourite of this strong issue. And I didn't guess the twist before it became obvious, which is a strength of the story. I also enjoyed 'Noam Chomsky and the Time Box' - quite different, melancholy sort of story for Interzone and it struck a chord with me.

Seriously, what the hell is with reviewers doing that? That's two now...

No spoilers in that review per se, but the link through to the specific "Intellectual Property" review hints at the twist and pretty much tells you the ending. That makes three...

Ah but "cyber noir." I like it. I wasn't really thinking about genres when I wrote it, I was too focused on achieving a (hopefully) believable female character. But I have always wanted to write some cyberpunk. Neat to have done it accidentally.

Biopunk?
Isn't there a thread somewhere for new "somethingpunk" genres?
Is biopunk new?

It's newer than steampunk, but I have heard of it before, so it's not an asspull and is presumably at least partially established as a subgenre.
I'd still call "Intellectual Property" post-cyberpunk, though, because the key piece of technology (if I remember rightly) is that cyborg-y head-plug thing.

Rich Horton reviews Interzone 232 in April’s Locus (#603) and says that Michael R. Fletcher’s Intellectual Property is “fun [...] with a clever twist at the end…”, and he makes Sarah L. Edwards’ By Plucking Her Petals one of his recommended stories. Gardner Dozois isn't so impressed with this issue it but thinks that Sue Burke’s Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise is the best story in it.
