INTERACTION

This link to beautiful photos taken by Cassini was sent by Andrew Porter to Roy Gray, who sent them to me. They are among the most spectacular space photos I've ever seen. Our thanks to the stately Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/0 ... ssion.html .

Beautiful, really amazing. That we have something out there capable of such pictures is pretty impressive - yay us the human race - but how incredibly small are we as well!

I always feel deeply ambivilent when I see photos like these. I mean, they are humbling and fill me with pride in the human race... but I've seen images just as impressive on the opening sequence of Star Trek: TNG. I have to work hard to be suitably impressed and to remind myself that these are real, not computer generated. That's a bit sad, really...
