Honestly, I wish I still liked Coheed & Cambria but I found the first issue of their comic unreadably awful, and everything after the first two albums is unbearably pompous. Last time I saw them live their "encore" was a twenty minute guitar solo. Pardon my language, but fuck that shit.
It was a real shame as their first two albums are good, and I do think they're trying to explore some interesting ideas... I just don't think they have the nous to articulate them. They're the American equivalent of Muse, who have become equally obsessed with big space operatic concepts, bombastic and grandiose music, and believing their own hype.

I'm even further behind with my music than I am with my reading

That is something I haven't listened to in a wee while. I think after the Dry Kill Logic I might just move on to Beethoven

Don't worry - once 2182 rolls around and you reach 1980s popular music you can skip a whole ten years.
Anyway, Flying Lotus - Los Angeles.

Ah, such a great band in the old days...
Everything up to about 1985 (Underwater Sunlight) is essential listening, I think, but after that they lost it, and those subsequent releases they've made that I've heard have been poor. Still, we'll always have that string of albums from 1970-85...

Given that I actually like the music from Babylon 5, perhaps I should listen to Tangerine Dream too.
Listened to 'Postcards From A Young Man' by the Manics this morning, their best album in years.
