I agree absolutely. Carole's story was brilliant. As were the (often unfairly overlooked, I think) columns.

I was reminded of an earlier story of hers, though, that seemed to invovled lots of running away. I'll have to check my back issues.
For me, Royle's was the most disturbing, and I really enjoyed the narrator's voice in Orinoco. Must add that I haven't read it all yet, though...

I'm afraid to say that Royle's story didn't do much for me. I might have to give it another read.
As for the rest, I should get it read over the weekend, in my breaks from work. The review of Apartment 16 got me really hoping I win one of the copies in the competition.

Perfectly reasonable behaviour in a horror story

Not running away, Ray - other one was running towards! A different thing entirely
@Ali and Matthew: I'm really glad you liked it. It always makes me feel like I must be doing something right!
Another brilliant issue, and I agree with Matthew about the columns. Love Pete's the best, obv
A big thank you to Rik for the brilliantly creepy artwork to accompany 'Between...' Looked amazing.

I enjoyed Mercurio D. Rivera's story, but I must say it felt a little clumsier than the stories of his we see in Interzone.
Simon Kurt Unsworth's story was quite literally chilling, and come to think of it, random snowmen are creepy.

I loved all the stories, but Carole's and Mercurio's stood above the rest.
Loved the last line in The Exchange..

Arrived here (SW France) - sometime last week. Can't be more precise as I've been away.
BS is obviously finding a much quicker route here than IZ.
And, I must agree with the "smell" comments - comes as some relief that others feel the same - I thought it was just me being a bit weird.

Arrived here in Massachusetts today in excellent condition. Won't get a chance to look at it until the weekend at the earliest, but looking forward to it!

Des, I'm waiting for you to write a real-time review of Philip K. Dick's Counter-Clock World. Starting with the last chapter.
