Mine arrived in Uppsala Sweden last Friday. I found it yesterday in my university mailbox, right on schedule. Two local subscribers and myself are enthusiastic. I'll read it soon.

Hmmm. No sign of mine yet. Very odd.

Damn or something similar. Next (BS) mailing around 12 Dec so if no sign by next week let us know so a replacement can go with that.
Assuming there is no obvious reason like your address has changed or your sub run out since our flurry of emails.

My address hasn't changed, and I'm to date on my subs. Hopefully it'll turn up tomorrow though :)

Have to say, it's a spectacularly good issue. Very well done to all involved!

Arrived here in the S of France on Monday 22, great issue.
Nice Special Offer for subscriptions but, as an existing subscriber and much as I loved reading it, I can't help but feel that a second, free copy isn't that much of a tempting offer to re-up early...

Tony Williams, in his Nov 27, blog gives IZ 231the once over. To summarize it's thumbs up for Sanford and de Bodard but less sure about Cook.

Hi Chris

I don't think we've made it very clear, and I might be misunderstanding you anyway, but just in case: you wouldn't receive a second copy of IZ231, the one you've already received would become free, we'd just add a further issue to the length of your subscription, eg if you renewed for twelve issues we'd make it thirteen.

I think its a bit clearer to me:
If you renew before the end of 2010, you will have one issue added onto your subscription? If for instance like me the subscription runs out mid next year the 13 issue subscription would start when that ends?

Got my copy in Ohio, USA last week. Great stories everyone! I've been a fan of the 'Zone for years, and having my story accepted was a real thrill - thanks to the editors and to everyone who read "The Shoe Factory".

Thanks for this link. I've been Googling to see of anyone has any reviews up yet, but somehow missed this one.

PS - The reviewer says:

"A strange story with a complex structure; I wasn't sure what was going on until the end (and I wasn't entirely certain even then)."

I'm satisfied with that (brief) summary... it sounds like exactly what I was going for.

-M

Cheers Matt, glad to be of service. Tony usually posts on at least the the BSFA and SFFChronicles fora so it will be all over the place by now.

I was knocked out by the strangeness, complexity and brilliantly crafted ambiguity of your story, Matt. Andy and I were delighted to get the 'heads up' from Jason.

There should be a few more reviews soon (if the previous pattern is followed) and I hope they will acknowledge that The Shoe Factory is a genuinely original, provocative and absorbing story.

Gosh... you're making me blush...

Jason found another review of the whole issue on SF Crow's Nest:

:S Still haven't received my copy, guys. I know the snow wreaked havoc with Royal Mail, but it's been clear for almost a week now.
