Pay day tomorrow - looking forward to ordering my copy. I found the writers's notes very interesting. Shearman's was particularly entertaining, and I think I've made the same argument as Hughes regarding TV licensing almost word for word - those letters really are something.
By the way, since getting rid of my television (and X-Box) I've never had more writing and reading on the go. I totally recomend it. After all, how many times do you need to see Only Fools and Horses, or a new gripping crime drama?

Now that I'm reading the stories, I'm rereading the notes. And I agree, Shearman's are very funny!

THE QUIETUS have put NEVER AGAIN up as BOOK OF THE DAY. A little about them....
'Record of the Day gave us the Music Publication Of The Year (Student Award) in 2008 and Music Website of the Year award in 2009. Da Capo's respected Best Music Writing guide also picked out three of our features for praise in its 2009 edited by Greil Marcus. Add to this praise from publications and broadcasters including the Guardian, The Sun, Fader, Observer, Independent, BBC, New York Times and Chicago Time Out. ....confident we're doing something right.'

Simon, I wish there had been a Never Again lunch. All I got was a glass of wine on an empty stomach.

Yes, when I first saw that I momentarily thought: "What? A Never Again lunch? How come I wasn't invited?"
Then I realised it was just a little ole typo.

You mean you two didn't get an invite to the lunch? Oh, that's a shame! It was lovely, too!

And in Morpheus Tales, a new review...by Adrian Brady!
"Here we have a collection of genre tales dedicated to the fight against prejudice, in its many forms, particularly racism and fascism. This isn’t just a great anthology; it is a group of writers speaking out against “political attitudes that stifle compassion.” It’s about awareness and treating every individual like a human being, sentiments that we can all understand.
The theme is echoed in the stories contained in the book, many dealing with racism in its various forms, and a lot of the others dealing with fascism and totalitarianism.
The writers are a diverse bunch, each giving us a different play on the themes. Some stories are a bit looser than others, but all are excellently written. My favourites of the collection are a Lansdale reprint, and the original stories from Simon Kurt Unsworth, Gary McMahon and Rhys Hughes.
“The Torturer” by Steve Duffy is particularly disturbing, even more so in the factual context this book intends to inform us about. For those readers who are sparked to take action, at the end of the book there is a list of organisations that stand up against fascism and racism. The book has a lot of meaning behind it, and that just helps you to enjoy the fiction even more, and makes you realise that we are lucky to have been born or live in the free world, where we are allowed to write and read what we want. A great collection with a great sentiment, this book deserves your support and understanding."

Amnesty International have agreed to stock NEVER AGAIN. Starting with the Brighton shop. I'll be getting in touch with anthology authors who live near enough (or they can email me) to arrange a launch and readings there.

That's great news, for all sorts of reasons. Well done all.
I'm still reading it, and enjoying it - I only dip in and out but that's because I always do that with themed anthologies. It's a very good collection in my opinion, for what it's worth.

Thank you, on behalf of the authors, Ray!
I tend to do the same when reading anthologies.
