We've been expecting the May issue of Black Static to arrive for a few days now. Subscriber and contributor copies will leave TTA Towers the day after it does.

You can find details of the issue on Black Static > Current Issue. Pete has written about the books reviewed (and interviews) on his Case Notes blog, and no doubt Tony will post his marks of the umpteen DVDs and Blu-rays covered in Blood Spectrum.

We hope you enjoy Black Static 22 and look forward to reading your comments here.

Some beautiful artwork in this issue from the looks of it.

Arrived on the Island today...

Here's a link my blog post about ratings for the issue's DVD & blu-ray reviews:

Glad to see that Andy picked best of new releases for competitions.

Whipped through this issue much faster than I normally do - testament to the strength of the stories this time round. Personal favourite was 'This is Mary's Moon' by Steven Pirie, but also thoroughly enjoyed 'Black Feathers' by Alison Littlewood.

A great issue. I hate to just repeat the previous post, but I really enjoyed the Littlewood and Pirie stories as well.

Arrived in SW France today, in perfect condition once again.

Must find time to get to read it - and the previous one.

Really enjoyed this issue, but in particular I liked Feathers as a favourite, closely followed by Eliza (some nods to Great Gatsby in places I thought).

Certainly enjoyed the others too (though with Unsworth that doesn't feel like the right word - reading his stuff often hurts), and found myself nodding a lot reading Fowler's article.

The fact that I managed to read the magazine the day I got it when I'm swamped with work is testament to how good it was.

Best issue since I started my sub with number 8. Couldn't fault any of the stories. The Unsworth just edged out the Littlewood as my favourite of the issue but enjoyed all the stories. Brilliant stuff.

Ray: ta! That's the plan...

Ross: cheers!

Excellent issue, as ever. Loved all the stories, and Mr Volk's column is a spot-on as it always is.

Hey, thanks Simon. I wasn't expecting that. Nice. Especially when I'm right now writing my piece for Black Static #23. :) Now I can get on with reading #22!

Thank you, really glad you enjoyed Black Feathers.

I was a bit nervous about this one for some reason - probably because I still feel like a little daydreamy kid myself half the time!

I loved the Steve Pirie story too.

Very good issue all round. Hard to pick a favourite story, as they were all excellent, but I think the atmosphere of Tim Lees' Durgen's Party just edges it for me.
