I heard it was the one from Thor (never saw it) but then the red face skull dude didn't necessarily die at the end of Cap'n America, so maybe...

Not seen it yet, but hoping to. I've had a mixed reaction to previous films - Iron Man okay, but not 2, not a Hulk fan but loved Captain America (may have been becasue I liked the era though, made a refreshing change). I'll be seeing this for the Captain, mostly (an odd comment, perhaps, considering it also features Black Widow) but I don't expect any one character to get much screen time. At least, I hope not - I'm hoping it's a proper ensemble film.

I liked it, although I had a headache and there was a numbskull chattering away behind us; it's possible I'd have really loved it under better circumstances. The one thing nagging at me was that it felt so much like The Ultimates, but with all the bits unsuitable for children left out. It's not as if I was expecting "You think this letter on my head stands for France?" or Ant-Man beating up his wife, but you know what I mean.

Most of the Marvel film adaptations use elements of the Ultimate universe. Fantastic Four 2 for example rips off an entire chunk of dialogue from the Ultimate Galactus trilogy. Personally, I think Avengers Assemble took the right approach in jettisoning all the stuff from The Ultimates where Mark Millar was wheeling out his cynical "I'm so edgy" act.

They could at least have kept the ending, with Hulk pooping out the villain...

They're saving that for the sequel.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. A bit baffled by some of the negative reactions I've read.
