It's not every day you get to accept a story by the lead actor in The Gate and The Gate II. Baph now makes dark, underground music as xaos, and I thought you might like to give it a whirl. Best place to start I suppose is the xaos website. Chodpa by Baph Tripp, illustrated by Rik Rawling, will appear in Black Static issue 29.

I didn't really mean to post just news, but hoped that the BS reader might be interested enough to check out Baph's music as well.

Looking forward to reading your thoughts, Mike. Am I right in thinking that you play in a band yourself? (I did, once -- people said we were crap but we were actually just before our time. )

You got out just in time Andy. You'd have to be on "The X-Factor" now

Andy, yes, the band is called The Deadlines. (We all worked at the same newspaper). Basically a garage band doing covers of The Who, Bad Company, Stones, U2, Psychedelic Furs, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, etc.

Baph's music is pretty dark, to be sure. Rather doom-laden. Listening to a couple samples, I felt my heart race, and blood quicken. Pretty effective, I'd say, though I did find that too many of the songs relied on the same beat/cadence. My favourites were Walking Dead, Utopiate, and 'i am not.' Well worth a listen.

Thanks for the 'plug', Andy. It would certainly be interesting to see if people who enjoy the kind of fiction that some find dark and/or disturbing would get something out of music that is the same.
(And, of course, I hope everyone can take something away from the story you've accepted into your fine pages)
Cheers!
