It's on again this year and TTA will be there with IZ, Black Static and other goodies. Manchester Book Market 17 & 18 June in St Ann's Square outside the Royal Exchange Theatre. TTA published authors will be included in the readers and it is a good opportunity to meet local publishers.

Manchester Book Market, 8/9 June 2012 St Ann's Square. Interzone will be there, Black Static will be there, Crimewave will be there - how about you? A slight change is that Simon Kurt Unsworth will be reading; Friday 8th at 3pm, Simon Bestwick will be reading; Saturday 9th at 1:37pm. This is a reversal of the earlier timings. Less than a week to go now.
For authors a chance to network with independant publishers in the region, for readers a chance to get some good stuff.

Horrible wet weather so a wet weekend selling magazines on Manchester book market.
Miserable, damp, cold and slow sales. Why do I do it?
Sold more Black Statics than Interzones. Unusual.
Emma Audsley was a big help on Friday.
Croatia was a much better choice.
Onward to Derby for Edge-Lit

Argh, sorry to hear - shame. :(

Hope Derby goes better. Not sure whether I'm off to that one yet. I was sorry not to see you at Alt.Fiction in Leicester, but the dealer room there was very small and a bit tucked away - only 2 tables there.

Manchester Council have agreed to let Comma organise another Manchester Book Market this year which will be on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June. The market will still be on St Anne's Square but inside a marquee this time.
I'll be TTA's representative all being well.
If you are a publisher and want your own stand for the whole weekend it will cost £45.
Quote:
As always, if you have a poet/writer you'd like to put forward for the performance area, please let us know who it is and if they have a preferred performance time and day. The performances will run from 12 noon until 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Everyone gets 8-10 minutes max.

So volunteer readers wanted and volunteer helpers on our stand wanted. If the weather is nice its good fun, but if not its not. All authors should have a go at selling their wares and we usually find space for authors to have their own books on display/sale.

2014 Market

Meanwhile, the Orangery will be home to the Manchester Independent Book Market – Over the course of two days, the public will have the chance to sample some of the work from a variety of independent publishers selling high-quality fiction, poetry, novels, short stories, and magazines. There will also be live back-to-back performances and readings from poets, novelists and short fiction writers.

The dates are June 7/8 and who fancies a performance? Let me know if you want your 5 minutes. Let me know soon if you want me to publicize it at all.
