Out now. Trailer here:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpKPiHYJc54

Revamped origin story it seems, with Andrew Garfield instead of Tobey Maguire, the Lizard instead of the Green Goblin, Gwen Stacy instead of Mary Jane Watson, and a sub-plot about the Parker parents.

Anyone seen it yet?

Yes I'm a bit confused about this :-k I liked Tobey Maguire in the roll, and also Mary Jane Watson.....They were good movies! I've a mind to ignore this immediate retake as likely to be porn-star perfect cast in slick overcoats without soul.... sort of thing.... 8)

I prefer to keep colour instead of turning these into links (which have such dull colour!) so just copy and paste addresses to visit my art etc.

It's quite enjoyable. They've changed things from the Raimi version (and the comics), which works in its favour in some respects but against it in others. There's more teenage angst on display than in the Raimi films but Spidey gets the smart-alec dialogue which defines him in the comics but which Raimi seeemed reluctant to do. Various plotholes and contrivances need to be overlooked to accept the story. Garfield and Stone are excellent as Peter and Gwen. Rhys Ifans doesn't get quite enough screentime to satisfactorily flesh out the Lizard. Denis Leary has the same problem as Captain Stacey. It's not the greatest superhero film ever made but it's nowhere near as bad as its reboot status would suggest.
