I did, Andrew, and it's done. Well, part of it's done. Will catch up with it fully (and with you!) soon.

Cheers! Just didn't want to be missing out on what I'm sure will be another great issue.

Landed on the doormat this morning, along with IZ #247 - the two most aromatic magazines in the known universe; just to take them out of the wrappers and breathe deep is to fall in love.

Arrived in Cheltenham in a triple whammy with Interzone and Crimewave 11. Holiday reading sorted! And thank you once again to Pete for a cracking, and comprehensive, review of Darker Minds. Much appreciated.

Now had the chance to read this issue and so here are the results from the Norwich jury:
Overall I found the fiction fell into two camps. Those whose endings nailed the concepts raised in the stories and those which were a little vague and inconclusive. Because of that, I'm giving each piece a 'nailed' or 'vague' rating (whether nailed or vague is good or bad depends on how you like your fiction).
"Isaac's Room" - Daniel Mills - Enjoyed this piece which was suitably evocative of college life and disassociation. Vague.
"Man Playing Ghosts, Playing God" - Steven J Dines - I couldn't quite get into this story which seemed overlong for its subject matter and left me cold emotionally. I couldn't quite believe the main characters would have reacted as they did (only in fiction...etc). Yet the final two paragraphs were chilling and perfect. Nailed.
"The Monster Makers" - Steve Rasnic Tem - I really couldn't get to grips with this story. I understood it, but needed some certainties as to what it was about. Vague.
"Arches and Pillars" - Michael Griffin - Affectionately slipstream is how I'd describe this piece. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Possibly my favourite this issue. Ambiguous yet ideal. Nailed/Vague.
"Summer Girls" - Caspian Gray - Loved the dead girl as metaphor in her unquestioned reality. A really strong subtle story. Nailed.
"What Would You Say If I Asked You To Love Me?" - Jason Gould - Great little story which hints at so much yet only reveals what it needs to. This ties with "Arches and Pillars" as my favourite this issue. Nailed.
"If You Can Read This, You're Too Close" - Carole Johnstone - Another story which hides more than it shows, but I just couldn't feel much empathy for this character and whilst the ending intrigues I'm less sure of the relevance. Vague.
For me, this issue is a mixed bag; but the standout stories were excellent. Enjoyed the columns/reviews too, especially Stephen Volk's.
