Can't wait. Particularly looking forward to Kaysen's, but anything 'dark and troubling' sounds good to me...

I read the item in White Noise on Comma Press's new anthology, The New Uncanny, to which I contribute a new story, 'The Dummy'. It seems that my name is neither a 'familiar name', nor 'one that we naturally associate with horror', as it wasn't mentioned at all.

Very sorry about that Nick but we got the info not from any of the contributors or from the publisher but from amazon, and your name wasn't mentioned there, nor does it show up on any other search. Last time I looked the book wasn't listed on the Comma Press website either. I can assure you that if we had known we would have mentioned you, and the item would've become even more newsworthy.
This might be a good time to remind Black Static readers to send us their news!

Incidentally, I'll be reading from my story in The New Uncanny at Lancaster Litfest on Halloween, in Lancaster, alongside Gerard Woodward and Matthew Holness.
Prior to that, tomorrow evening in fact, I'll be reading at the launch of the new Ambit, at Owl Bookshop, Kentish Town, north London, if any TTA Forum users are down that way and fancy a change from staring at the walls.

Matthew Holness isn't mentioned on Amazon either Nick, so you're not the only one overlooked
To reiterate/expand on what Andy said, folks please send me any news via whitenoise@ttapress.demon.co.uk It's not a guarantee you'll get a mention, as I have to make decisions about relevance and Andy has to make decisions about space, but at least you're in with a shot.

Nope. Not unless my parents told lies for my birth certificates, anyway
Am I being a total idiot if I ask who Alison is?

Jo: not at all. I just dodn't want to be a dick myself by recommending something to you that I might already have recommended to you. Alison Jeapes was an MA student of mine from W/ton. Trevor Hoyle's brilliant novel, Blind Needle (John Calder), is set in Workington, though he calls it Brickton. It's a thriller with an experiemental element. One of my favourite novels. If you can get hold of a copy, you might like it.
