Hollywood's drive to make every SFnal idea into a blockbuster action/ young-romance movie, continues...
Anyone read Steven Gould's (2 or 3?) novels?

I read chapter 1 on the web. Seemed OK.

Saw the movie Tuesday, not impressed but there were one or two interesting moments. I couldn't help feeling they were all that remained from the book(s) but that could be completely wrong. I felt sorry for Rachel Bilson. They didn't give her a lot to do.

I have read the two books, not the movie tie-in one. They are pretty decent.

From the looks of the trailer they changed pretty much everything except the character's name, his teleporting and his girlfriend's name.

I couldn't bear more than 20 minutes of this atrocious guff! It was either duck out of the theatre for an early pint or burn down the whole cinema.

The Police were very understanding but they still think I should have opted for the early pint. I don't though I think it was worth it.

I sincerely hope this (pauses to spit in disgust) mess of a film doesn't prevent someone soon doing a decent transportation film/TV show 'coz we've certainly never had one yet, despite the hundreds of great stories in print.

Yours faithfully
